Head to the Jubilee!
This is my craziest week of the year! Just a quick post today to remind you that this week in St. George is the annual Jubilee of Trees. This event raises funding for critically needed medical services in the Southern Utah area. I am honored to be part of this event and its host, The Foundation of Dixie Regional Medical Center. So come on over to the Dixie Center and say hi. From entertainment to the most amazingly decorated Christmas trees you have ever seen, you will not be disappointed.

Thank A Veteran Today
I haven't posted for a while. I have been busy! Busy! Busy! (Well who isn't?) However, we are never too busy to be grateful for our valiant servicemen. I cannot express my thanks enough to the brave men & women of the armed forces. Because of their hard work and sacrifice, I am able to work, blog, and play. So whenever you have the opportunity, on the road or even just in line at Costco, take the time to say thank you.

Scatter Social Sunshine
Social media today is filled with folks who want to share a message, myself included. I particularly enjoy seeing friends and family grow and thrive in the lives they have made for themselves. Others pass along political information, funny sayings or inspiring quotes. These folks make a habit of seeking out and sharing the best of what social media has to offer. They keep their glasses full and fill others' glasses as well.
But there is also the social media user who is out there just to spread manure, sew a bad seed and put a rain cloud over Media-land. Constantly ranting and raving, sharing doom and gloom, what is the mission of this user? Surely there is a way to educate and create awareness without tearing down. There is a way to speak of life's stormy days without showing yourself to be the perpetual victim forever mired in the half emptiness of your glass. And the manure? Leave it in the cow where it belongs!
Today see what you can do to make something better than it is. Put yourself out there to be a help rather than a hindrance. Smile. Better yet, watch a silly, dub-step cat video - and laugh. Share your life, share your love and share a better message.

Don't Sell Yourself Short!
Last night I saw a commercial that made me stop and think. A realtor was advertising himself as "half-off". He was determined to convince prospective customers that he was the realtor for them because he was "half-off". Now don't get me wrong. I love a good deal as much as anyone. But the fact that this guy would sell himself short speaks volumes; not to mention what it implies about his fellow realtors.
Having worked with many realtors whom I respect and admire, I know that their hard work and expertise in a very dynamic field is invaluable. That's how it is I decided to become one. I also know that most realtors, the "half-off" realtor included, are good and decent folks who are feeding families and paying bills just the same as everybody else....and keeping up with education, licensing, taxes etc. is not cheap.
A good realtor spends hours studying and researching to help his client find the right place at the right price, or helping his client sell at the right time at the right price. Don't sell yourself short by using a realtor just because he is "half-off". Find the realtor who is right for you. If it's not me, I'll help you find the one who is right for you. And you will end up saving in the long run.

Today's post has to do with the economy! Yes! According to 24/7 Wall Street and the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, "Utah is number 7 on a list ranking states with the fastest-growing economies". It has been estimated that job growth in St. George could see an increase of over 27%! What does that mean to you and me? Well, it means the amazing red rocks of Dixie are calling! Happy people, safe neighborhoods year-round outdoor recreation and breathtaking scenery are the things that draw people here; and once they get here? They want to stay.

As of last Wednesday, Washington County schools are back in full swing. Today Dixie State University students also head back to class. For those of us lucky enough to call Utah's Dixie home, the excellent schools available are among the most important of the many reasons to live here.
No matter where you live, take the time to be involved at your child's school. If your kids are grown or you don't have children, your local school district can help you learn about opportunities to volunteer helping students or to be a part of a community council. Or maybe you are thinking about heading back to school yourself. There couldn't be a better time than now!
If you are thinking of making that move to Southern Utah, check out www.washk12.gov for more information about Washington County School District. To find out more about Dixie State, check out www.dixie.edu. And as always, if you need a place to call home, just give me a call.

As you all know, I love my home in St. George and I love helping people find homes in St. George. Frank Wildhorn, famed composer of musicals such as The Scarlet Pimpernel and Jekyll and Hyde, penned the phrase "...here safe and sound...and home." When I am home with my family, I do feel safe and sound. That is why on Saturday and Sunday mornings, I devote a little of my time to being in a different kind of home; a house of prayer. I feel so blessed to be safe and sound at home that it only makes sense to me to show my gratitude. No matter your belief, gratitude in your abundance is essential to continued happiness and success.
Saturday is also the day I get to help good people like yourselves find a place to feel safe and sound. So have a good weekend. Enjoy being home. And if you know of someone who needs help finding that place to call home, have them give me a call.
